Procedures

Prior to Surgery

Arrange to have a support person (over the age of 18) pick you up and stay with you for 24 hours after surgery. If you are unable to have a support person the day of your procedure, you will need to reschedule to a day that a support person is available to you.

You will receive a call from the registered nurse and the anesthesia provider to discuss your procedure.

You should not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your procedure unless otherwise directed by the nurse anesthetist. (No chewing gum or mints.)

The Day of your Procedure

Wear something comfortable, sweat pants and a zip up sweat shirt (nothing to pull over your head) and easy to slip on shoes.

PLASTIC SURGICAL CENTER OF RAPID CITY L.L.C. SignYou and your support person need to arrive at the Plastic Surgical Center 1 hour prior to your scheduled surgery time.

Upon arrival you will be asked to complete paper work, including a pertinent medical history, and consent for surgical procedure. HIPAA information will be provided to you along with other informative materials.

Your surgeon will visit with you pre-operatively to answer any questions you may still have. He/she will also do any necessary pre-surgery markings at this time. After your surgery he/she will vist with your caregiver.

A certified registered nurse anesthetist will visit with you and go over your past medical history and plan your anesthesia. Following your surgery you will receive a follow-up phone call from the anesthetist 1 - 2 days following your surgery.

Following Surgery

After the completion of your procedure you will wake up in the recovery room and will remain there for 1 to 1.5 hours.

Once in the recovery room, you may have your support person with you.

It is very important that your fluid intake is good prior to discharge. To encourage this, beverages are provided to you.

When you are ready for discharge, instructions will be provided to your support person.

Your anesthesia provider will follow up with you after your procedure to discuss your recovery progress.

Your well being and safety is our primary concern - before, during and after your surgery.
