More men (and women) are getting plastic surgery

December 30, 2016

A lot of people think of plastic and cosmetic surgery as something that women have done, but that’s not true. Not anymore. Men are getting plastic surgery in increasing numbers.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of men seeking cosmetic procedures has increased 325 percent since 1997. In fact, 10 percent of plastic surgery patients were men in 2015.

The top five procedures for men in 2015 were, in order, liposuction, nose surgery, eyelid surgery, breast reduction and facelift.

For women the top five procedures were liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, breast lift and eyelid surgery. Women had more than 11.5 million cosmetic procedures in 2015.

The ASAPS report shows that regardless of gender, plastic surgery is becoming more accepted. Surgical and nonsurgical procedures to improve your appearance are becoming part of modern life.
